How to Introduce Yourself in Japanese!

1. Introduction: Time to Introduce Yourself!

Throughout our beginner lessons, we’ve learned Hiragana, Katakana, and basic Japanese phrases. Now, it’s time to put everything together!

Being able to introduce yourself is the first step in real conversations. Today, we’ll learn simple self-introduction phrases so you can confidently start speaking Japanese!

2. Basic Self-Introduction Phrases

Japanese Reading English
わたし は 〇〇 です。 Watashi wa ○○ desu. I am ○○.
わたし の なまえ は 〇〇 です。 Watashi no namae wa ○○ desu. My name is ○○.
わたし は 〇〇 から きました。 Watashi wa ○○ kara kimashita. I’m from ○○.
わたし は 〇〇 が すき です。 Watashi wa ○○ ga suki desu. I like ○○.

3. Example Introductions (実際の自己紹介例)

わたし は アレックス です。 (*Watashi wa Arekkusu desu.* – I am Alex.)
わたし は アメリカ から きました。 (*Watashi wa Amerika kara kimashita.* – I’m from America.)
